Session 1: The Ups: Highlighting real value from LLM-based initiatives

Abstract

The session will explore the successful implementation of LLMs in real-world applications, focusing on key success factors, sustainability, their role in preserving endangered languages for local communities, and how they can democratize access to technology by fostering digital inclusion and accessibility. The session will commence with short presentations from the interlocutors, followed by a ‘fireside chat’.

Session 2: The Downs: The risks and concerns of widespread deployment of LLMs

Abstract

This roundtable discussion will examine the challenges and considerations in deploying LLM-based initiatives, including ethical implications, security risks, economic and social impacts, regulatory and legal challenges, and technical limitations, while exploring strategies to mitigate risks, ensure fairness, and maximize positive outcomes. The roundtable will start with short presentations from speakers, and be followed by a chaired discussion involving all workshop participants.

Session 3: The Unchartered waters: Open discussion: An Interactive session on the unknowns of LLM deployment

Abstract

This session will explore the "unknown unknowns" of social impact in using LLMs, using real-time audience input and discussion to identify unanticipated risks and opportunities. It will start with two short provocations, followed by an online issues-capture to inspire a lively discussion among participants of the potential futures we may experience in using LLMs.
